"Hands Tied" by Mike Pitzer

$3,500.00

“Hands Tied” is a visual interpretation of the struggle I faced working as an award-winning advertising agency Executive Creative Director and the feeling of having my hands tied when it came to developing creative marketing campaigns. Most of the time, I felt my creativity was stifled by small-thinking or politically motivated account execs and/or clients wanting the world and having no budget (or balls) to produce the concepts their sales yearned for. I found myself trying to be creative in sheer blackness.

The artistic side of me was looking to create beauty and interest from nothing. Like Van Gogh’s “Starry Night”, my red panel was the interpretation of artistic freedom, creative energy swirling about looking for ideas to pollinate.

Sadly, even my best creative advertising work that made it into the awards books will be short-lived as few people even refer to those as references today. Hopefully, my artwork will be passed from generation to generation.
