70’s Callen MFG Cap Grenade
This is my pop-realism drawing of a 1970’s vintage Callen MFG. CORP. Cap Grenade. If there was ever a toy designed to get little kids in trouble, this was it. In fact, I don’t think there was a single dog in Algonac that didn’t growl or show its teeth if you opened your hand and had one of these in it. Put a cap in. Twist the top. Throw it on the sidewalk. BANG!
They were a lot of fun and lots of noise. Maybe that’s where the expression “We had a bang!” came from.
