Mighty Mouse Paddle Ball
As a kid growing up on the St. Clair River in Algonac, Michigan, we had one, 19-inch black and white TV, one bathroom and 5 kids, two parents, and a dog and cat all living in one house. There was no internet. No video games. There was, however, your imagination and 25-cent toys like my Mighty Mouse Paddle Ball. We'd each take turns to see how long you could keep smacking the rubber ball against the paddle without missing. We'd play for what seemed like hours which I tried to represent with the hash marks filling the background of this artwork.
The reason I did this on a wood panel was that I'd run out of paper to draw on and I was bitten by the bug to do something. This is one of three piece I created on wooden panels. Much dirtier than graphite on clean white paper. =-)
